As part of CAREERS WEEK, join us for a look at careers in Fashion and Textiles and other creative industries.
We are thrilled to have RACHEL HIGGINBOTTOM from De Montford University join us for this talk about careers. She is a specialist in new technologies I the industry, including digital design, material innovation, AI and AR in design and will talk about the huge variety of career opportunities in these fields.
As an organisation we vigorously promoting this incredible industry within schools and have added to our existing resource of video journals by professionals and post graduate students in textiles and fashion and further developed the downloadable resources for you to use as part of your schools careers week events.
Rachel Higginbottom is a Senior Lecturer and Programme leader of MA Digital Design at De Montfort University. Her teaching covers design research methods and digital product development underpinned by a broad knowledge of contemporary digital software.
An apparel designer by training, Rachel has an international design background having held roles in fashion design management, product development and trend forecasting with specialisms in bodywear and material innovation. Through her cross-disciplinary design practice Rachel strives to bridge industry with academia and facilitate knowledge exchange across creative and digital industries.
Current research interests focus on new technologies in design education, digital accessibility and material innovation using 3D scanning and modelling.
The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea ‘N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed. We are always looking for new Associate members, so if you would like to join this small team then do contact us at: info@textileskillscentre.com
