JON DUNN-BALLAM
Jon is a knitter, crocheter, spinner, hand-dyer and sewist and set up Easyknits.co.uk, a small indie yarn dyers, originally based in South East London, UK, in 2009. He began knitting at the age of 7, taught by his grandma, knitting throughout most of his youth, pausing to complete his studies in Graphic Design and after graduating moved to London.
Jon joined a knitting group that met every week in a different pub in the city, making friends and getting back into his knitting in a big way. After discovering a love for knitting socks, he marvelled at how, at the time, there was so little choice in bright and fun colourways in luxury knitting yarns, and so began tinkering and experimenting with dyeing his own, within a few months easyknits.co.uk was born.
In the past 12 years easyknits,co.uk has become known for it’s high quality, luxurious yarn bases dyed in an array of wild and wonderful colours across the spectrum, steadily growing and developing and changing. More recently Jon re-opened it’s studio doors from a new location in the Canary Islands, on the beautiful tropical island of Lanzarote and his socks and colourful dyed cars are being sold around the world:)
The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea ‘N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed.
