FREE RESOURCE:  Imagined Future

We are offering these resources free of charge, but if you would like to donate to our ongoing support of textiles education, we would really appreciate it. Textiles Skills Centre is managed by a small team of volunteers, who develop free resoures and support teachers through the Textiles Teachers Centre and other networking activities.
Any small donation (per teacher) would mean that we can pay for the website, Dropbox, Zoom and admin costs.

At the moment all costs are met by our team and time is given freely. Your donations, however small, will help to enhance and continue providing this support and resources.

Please click the DONATE button.

Powerpoint (pdf) of the Tea ‘N Chat with Kate Foley (MA student) who is working on her thesis and has created a hypothetical future scenario to discuss. She would like you to participate and give your views on the scenario she will present, and use the results to form part of her thesis.

Positionality in the hypothetical future scenario:

The year is 2045. Twenty-three years ago, on 09th June 2022, the government formed the Department of Fashion and Textile Justice, giving political power to independent creatives. Soon after, it was announced that from 01st January 2025, the act of mass-producing clothing and accessories would become banned due to the increasingly harmful impact of the textiles industry on the environment.
Now, in 2045 we live in a world that relies on second-hand and hand-made clothing and accessories. High-street and high-end shops have become obsolete. As a result, society depends on the processes of rehoming, reusing, and upcycling.
