A pack of 7 easy to use patterns, which can used as they are, or adapted for designs developed by students. The patterns are part of a full online course for textiles teachers, which includes video tutorials, step-by-step guides, lesson plans and lots of other resources.

This pack has been developed by Nicky Simpson for the Textiles Skills Centre, from patterms used successfully in her teaching practice. There are 7 patterns that can be adapted to make 18 different garments for both boys and girls. These student friendly patterns do not include zips, darts or sizing. They are suitable for GCSE students, enabling them to design and make exciting & innovative garments that can be easily and independently assembled.

The Pack includes patterns for:

  • TSC001: T SHIRT (ADAPT FOR DRESS/JACKET/COAT)
  • TSC002: SLEEVELESS TOP (ADAPT FOR DRESS/WAISTCOAT)
  • TCS003: SHORTS (CAN BE EXTENDED FOR TROUSERS)
  • TSC004: KIMONO STYLE TOP (ADAPT FOR JACKET/COAT)
  • TSC005: SKIRT
  • TSC006: CORSET (ADAPT FOR PANELLED DRESS)
  • TSC007: RAGLAN JACKET (ADAPT FOR TOP/COAT)

The pattern pack will be posted to you and individual step-by-step instruction guides for making both blocks & toiles including adaptations, will be emailed to you on receipt of your payment.

If at any time you decide to join the full course, there is an option to pay for just the course, excluding the price of the pattern pack.

Nicky Simpson textilesNicky Simpson
PGCE; BA(Hons) Textiles Design: Specialising in print.

Nicky is a contemporary textiles artist, who has 12 years teaching experience, heading up Fashion & Textiles at a School in Kent. She has taught many different specifications from Art & Design Textiles at GCSE and A Level, Design and Technology at GCSE and A Level and BTEC Level 3 Fashion. Her last set of grades were: A Level 100% A-A*; GCSE 70% A-A* (100% A*-B). She has also taught Graphics, Food and Art at KS3.
In Nicky’s previous career she was a senior director of a fashion print agency in the heart of London. She designed her own prints as well as creating and selling seasonal fashion print collections for the international market, buying and redesigning archive prints. Nicky designed and sold to all the high street stores from Marks and Spencer to River Island.
For the past 6 years Nicky has been a textile consultant, focusing on developing and leading the online and face to face workshops for the Textile Skills Centre, including pattern development. Nicky has mentored many graduate trainees, and now mentors many fellow teachers through the TSC mentorship programme. She has delivered workshops at the Knitting & Stitching show and volunteers as an art therapist in her spare time.
