Description

FREE RESOURCE: SUSTAINABILITY IN TEXTILES

We are offering these resources free of charge, but if you would like to donate to our ongoing support of textiles education, we would really appreciate it. Textiles Skills centre is managed by a small team of volunteers, who develop free resoures and support teachers through the Textiles Teachers Centre and other networking activities.
A Donation of £20  (per teacher) would mean that we can pay for the website and newsletter costs, as well as having some funds to pay for travel to important meetings to represent teachers.
At the moment all costs are met by our team and time is given freely. Your donations, however small, will help to enhance and continue providing this support and resources.

Please click the DONATE button.

This resource can be used as part of enrichment or a mini project/lessons, used with your own theme alongside your own scheme of work. This is especially useful for students to do at home.

About the resource:

The resource includes sustainability tasks that can be used for different year groups. There is also a mini project ‘RECYCLE-RESUSE’, make and decorate a handmade mask from recycled materials found in your home or garden, with inspirational mood board, ideas for recycling at home, a step-by-step instructions and visual guide, links to you tube tutorials and inspirational catwalks, a small scheme of work and links to the curriculum. (The mask project and embellishment can be made by hand stitching, for students to make at home.)

LINKS TO THE ART & DESIGN SPECIFICATION

Students will develop transferable skills – students will learn to: apply a creative approach to problem solving and consider and develop original ideas from initiation to realisation. They will also develop a knowledge and understanding of recyclability and sustainability.
