*WINNERS ANNOUNCED*

 

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our STUDENT TEXTILES ARTIST COMPETITION 2024.

This year we were overwhelmed at the response, receiving over 600 entries this year!! Literally the inbox broke!!!

The judges said they were astonished at the quality of the work they had to choose from, one saying:  ‘All of the entries were wonderful; it was so difficult to choose! Please let all of the finalists know I’m very, very proud that we have such amazing talent emerging in the world of textiles today,’ Jon Dunn-Ballam

This year’s competition was sponsored by JANOME UK & IRELAND Sewing Machines and DRYAD EDUCATION (formerly Specialist Crafts/Heart Education).

JANOME UK have kindly given a 725S sewing machine for each of the 2 winners.

DRYAD EDUCATION (formerly Specialist Crafts/Heart Education) are giving a £50 voucher to the 2 winners teachers  and a goody bag to the first 3 places in each category.

Each winner will also receive a TEXTILES SKILLS CENTRE TROPHY and each teacher will get a free online TSC course.

The Textile Skills Centre, student competition is back and this year we have 2 sponsors, as well as the coveted Textiles Skills Centre Trophies!

The competition is in 2 categories: KS4 & KS5 and after the closing date, 10 from each category are selected to go forward to the final judging panel.
The panel of Judges include industry experts who will select winners from the 10 finalists in each category.

TEXTILES SKILLS CENTRE  is managed by a small team of volunteers, who develop free resources and support teachers through the Textiles Teachers Centre and other networking activities.
A Donation would go towards paying for the website, newsletter and ongoing administration costs.
At the moment all costs are met by our team and time is given freely. Your donations, however small, will help to enhance and continue providing this support and resources.

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our STUDENT TEXTILES ARTIST COMPETITION 2023.

We were overwhelmed at the response, receiving over 350 entries this year!!

The judges said they were ‘absolutely in awe, and love seeing all the students creations’,  ‘there is some incredible work, and it wasn’t an easy decision to select the winners’.

This year’s competition was sponsored by JANOME UK & IRELAND Sewing Machines and DRYAD EDUCATION (formerly Specialist Crafts/Heart Education).

JANOME UK have kindly given a 725S sewing machine for each of the 2 winners.

DRYAD EDUCATION (formerly Specialist Crafts/Heart Education) are giving a £50 voucher to the 2 winners and a goody bag to the first 3 places in each category.

Each winner will also receive a TEXTILES SKILLS CENTRE TROPHY and each school will get a free Online TSC course.

STUDENT TEXTILE ARTIST 2022 – WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

We are so pleased with the amount of entries and the amazingly high standard of work that we received for our first student competition with over 220 students entering!!
It was so exciting to see all the creative work being done in our schools across the UK! The judges said they had very difficult choices to make and they really enjoyed viewing the artwork and reading about its origins and development. One teacher commented  ‘this was an excellent extension and enrichment opportunity for our young people and we really appreciate your support, especially after the last few years.’

The textiles teacher from the winning schools won a free place for an online course from Textiles Skills Centre and each winner received a trophy – see images below.

    Emma Wilson – Print Designer- who we all met on one of our Textile Skills Centre ‘Tea ‘N Chat’ networing events.
  • Nicola Redmore BSc MRes PGCHE FHEA CMgr – Weave Specialist & Subject Leader for Fashion & Textiles at Huddersfield University, a regular on our ‘Tea ‘n Chats’.
  • Alice Buckingham – Junior Assistant Costume Designer – Currently working in Rumania on the latest Netflix production of ‘Wednesday’ with director Tim Burton.
  • Jamie Brown – Tailoring Designer/Maker who has already created an amazing video for our careers collection, an inspiration to our male textile artists.
